Stanza Desktop is a free application to read electronic books using your computer. Based on the successful Stanza reading software developed for iPhone and iPod Touch, this tool allows you to read most type of documents in your computer, including ePub, TXT, DOC, RTF, HTML, LIT, and LRF. Its conversion capabilities will then allow you to upload them to your iPhone, iPod Touch, or Kindle.
Though still in a Beta stage, Stanza Desktop offers you the basic functionality you need to read most e-books and documents on your computer screen. Some reading controls are only available through menu options (next page, previous page, end of book, and so on), but you can now add as many bookmarks as you need to help you navigate your e-books. At this stage, it offers only one layout option, though text and background colours are now fully customizable. Font’s sizes can also be changed to accommodate all reading preferences.
Stanza Desktop offers multiple conversion possibilities. You can export your e-books and other supported text documents into formats that can be read using different devices and text readers, such as Adobe Digital Editions, Amazon Kindle, eReader, mobile phones, Mobipocket, Palm Database, PalmDOC, PDF, XHTML, RTF, and Open eBook.
Highly graphical content or documents with no textual information should be handled with using other reading tools, as Stanza Desktop has not been designed for this purpose.
